Visual Bank Group’s amana images Launches Satellite Imagery Service for High-Frequency Earth Observation
amana images inc., a subsidiary of Visual Bank Inc. and a leader in visual rights management, officially launched its "Satellite Imagery Tasking & Archiving Service" on August 25, 2023. This service is powered by the microsatellite constellation operated by space-tech pioneer Axelspace Corporation.
In addition to custom on-demand tasking, the service allows users to extract specific geospatial data (by region, district, or coordinate) from Axelspace’s extensive historical archive. Furthermore, iconic and high-aesthetic satellite imagery will be curated and made available for commercial licensing on the official amana images platform (amanaimages.com).
Axelspace, established in 2008, operates "AxelGlobe," a leading Earth observation platform powered by a proprietary microsatellite constellation, alongside "AxelLiner," a one-stop service for microsatellite solutions. The Earth observation data captured since 2019 by their "GRUS" satellites forms the backbone of the AxelGlobe database. With the successful launch of four additional GRUS satellites in 2021, the constellation has significantly expanded its capture capacity to meet increasing global demand.
New Satellite Tasking Services
AxelGlobe is a next-generation optical Earth observation platform capable of high-frequency monitoring across the globe. With five satellites currently in full operation, the constellation can capture the same location every 2 to 3 days at a ground resolution of 2.5m per pixel.
AxelGlobe Tasking Service: Enables users to request a single capture of a specific area within a designated timeframe. This service is designed for ease of use, allowing developers and researchers to acquire bespoke imagery for targeted geographical analysis.
AxelGlobe Monitoring Service: A subscription-based service providing multiple captures of one or more locations per month. This allows for consistent, long-term observation of environmental changes or infrastructure development from space.
Key AI & Industrial Applications:
Training Data (Ground Truth): High-quality input for machine learning models specializing in Object Detection (vehicles, vessels, buildings) and Land Use/Land Cover (LULC) classification.
Commercial Use: High-impact visuals for advertising, publishing, journalism, and educational materials.
Archive Data Extraction Service
Users can now access and extract data from the AxelGlobe archive, which has been accumulating global imagery since 2019. By leveraging existing data, amana images can provide rapid delivery—typically within four business days—offering a highly cost-effective solution for time-series analysis.
Pricing is based on "cells," which are 5km x 5km square units defined by Axelspace's global grid system.
Reference Pricing (Archival Extraction):
Grid Size | Area Coverage | Price (Excl. Tax) |
|---|---|---|
3x3 Cells | Approx. 15km x 15km | 60,000 JPY |
4x4 Cells | Approx. 20km x 20km | 80,000 JPY |
5x5 Cells | Approx. 25km x 25km | 100,000 JPY |
6x6 Cells | Approx. 30km x 30km | 120,000 JPY |
Data retrieved through this service is cleared for diverse applications, including AI/ML model training, commercial product development, and academic research.
